How to play Trydle
Trydle is the daily NRL guessing game for rugby league fans. Each day a mystery player is chosen from a database of over 2,000 NRL players active since 2000. You get 8 guesses to figure out who it is.
Play today's puzzleThe basics
Type any NRL player's name into the search box and select them from the dropdown. After each guess, six coloured tiles reveal how close you were:
- Green — exact match on that clue
- Amber — close but not exact
- Grey — no match
The six clues
Team(s) — every NRL club the player appeared for. Green means the exact same set of clubs. Amber means at least one club in common. Grey means no overlap at all.
Position — one of FB (fullback), WNG (winger), CTR (centre), HFB (halfback), 5/8 (five-eighth), HK (hooker), 2RF (second row forward), or PRP (prop). Position is correct or wrong — no amber.
Prems — the number of NRL or ARL premierships the player has won. Amber means you're within one. An arrow tells you whether the answer is higher ▲ or lower ▼.
Origin — the player's State of Origin team (QLD or NSW), or their country if they represented an international team but never played Origin, or "None" if they were never selected. Amber means both players are from different Australian states.
Debut — the year the player first played NRL. Amber means you're within three years. An arrow shows whether the answer debuted earlier ▲ or later ▼.
Tips for winning
- Start with high-profile players from big clubs — they give you lots of information quickly.
- Use the arrow on Debut to rapidly narrow down the era. If you get ▲, guess someone who debuted earlier.
- The Prems clue is powerful — if the answer is 3 premierships, you're almost certainly looking at a Melbourne Storm or Penrith Panthers player from a specific era.
- If you get amber on Teams, your next guess should be someone who played for one of those same clubs.
